As a recipient of The King’s Award for Enterprise in Promoting Opportunity (through social mobility) in 2023, the leading Birmingham-based uPVC window, door, and fire door manufacturer joined other distinguished businesses from across the region at the groundbreaking event.

The assembled businesses represented over £7bn in turnover and £294m of investment, highlighting the Midlands’ position at the forefront of innovation and entrepreneurial excellence.

Howard Trotter, Shelforce’s Business Manager, commented: “We were delighted to take part in the very first Midlands King’s Awards Network Launch. It was a fantastic event that brought together some of the most innovative and successful businesses in our region.

“Speaking with so many fellow King’s Awards winning businesses was truly inspiring and reinforced the fact that the Midlands is home to some wonderfully successful businesses and enterprises.”

The Assembly’s programme featured dynamic panel discussions and interviews aligned with the Midlands Engine Partnership’s drivers for inclusive economic growth, covering topics such as investment, business, innovation, international trade, sustainable development, and promoting opportunity.

Sir John Peace, Chairman of the Midlands Engine Partnership, emphasized the significance of the event: “The Midlands King’s Awards Network Assembly is a landmark event that brings together some of the region’s most innovative minds.

“With over 180 King’s Awards for Enterprise received by Midland’s businesses in the past five years—the highest number outside London and the South East—this Assembly and the Network it results in will serve as a powerful platform to build on the region’s successes.”

The MKAN, convened by the Midlands Engine Partnership in collaboration with regional Lord-Lieutenants and government partners, aims to harness the collective power of the region’s most successful enterprises, driving investment, economic growth, and social mobility.

“As a company committed to promoting opportunity through social mobility, we at Shelforce are proud to be part of this initiative,” added Howard. “The connections made, and insights gained, at this event will undoubtedly contribute to our continued growth and success, as well as that of the entire Midlands region.”
