Shelforce were responsible for the manufacture and supply of aluminium windows for Birmingham City Council’s first modular home, AKA the ‘ModPod’.

What was involved in the project?

Working with Just Solutions, in association with Birmingham City Council’s housing arm Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust (BMHT), Shelforce have manufactured and supplied ‘A’ rated energy efficient aluminium windows to meet the need for affordable, modern housing in Birmingham. All deliveries were just in time, providing high quality windows to the construction site before the finished unit was craned into place on a pre-prepared site on Heaton Street in Hockley.

The project was completed in just 20 weeks, although on a live production line completion can be shortened to just 2 weeks.
