Our unique dedication and drive to go above and beyond for a wide range of trade clients has helped us scoop a variety of prestigious awards over the years. Demonstrating a steadfast commitment to delivering outstanding construction products and customer service time and time again, the following awards are a testament to the whole teams’ hard work, determination, and dedication to deliver the very best.
In November 2021, Shelforce held off three other companies to scoop the Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion award at the annual Asian Business Chamber Awards, in association with the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce. Our inspirational story impressed the judging panel; despite the numerous challenges in 2020 and 2021, Shelforce continued its inclusive legacy.
Representing the Asian business community across Great Birmingham since 1987, this prestigious award looks at companies who have made an incredible contribution to their sector and community. Contributing to a much greater agenda than the manufacture of windows and doors is Shelforce’s social aims, and the company’s continued success demonstrates what can be achieved by adopting an integrated, inclusive, approach to employment and having a diverse team.
In July 2021, Shelforce also picked up the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) Excellence for People Development award. Celebrating the businesses who have shown a particular commitment to developing their staff, Shelforce impressed the judges with its strong staff development programme for its employees – 75% of which are disabled, with high levels of engagement leading to increased performance. Providing the skills to thrive inside the workplace, as well as outside the workplace too, staff are given an understanding of what everyone needs to do to be successful to create an environment in which can lead, innovate, and utilise their skills to drive the business forward. This has led to 30% of our workforce successfully moving to more senior roles and over 85% diversifying their roles.
In July 2021, Shelforce was crowned the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) Birmingham Business Of The Year. As winners of the GBCC Excellence for People Development award, Shelforce automatically went into the overall GBCC Business of the Year award against the other winners on the night and came away with the top prize.
Showing excellence across the board, from service to manufacturing and sustainability, Steve Allen, president of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, said: “Shelforce is an outstanding example of what it means to do good business and we are glad to recognise them as such after a year of such adversity.”
In October 2019, Shelforce Business Manager Howard Trotter was awarded the Heart of the Industry award at the annual National Fenestration Awards.
2019 was the first time the award was opened up to you the wider audience to nominate, having previously been handpicked by the NFA team.
Showing an unmatched dedication to the Shelforce workforce alongside his work with special needs schools and the wider community, it was wonderful to see Howard’s hard work and dedication recognised by the industry.
The Equality Trailblazer award for the West Midlands is part of the annual British Chamber of Business Awards, promoting the best of British business through a series of regional heats.
Leading the way in inclusivity when it comes to employment opportunities in the glazing industry, Shelforce’s success positions us as an award-winning company that aims to improve employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Our workplace initiative for some of the city’s most vulnerable people helps them to overcome the barriers of employment and succeed and produce professionally engineered products in a billion-pound industry.
