Birmingham-based fabricator Shelforce has announced a significant half a million-pound investment in cutting-edge machinery at its Erdington headquarters, positioning the company for substantial growth as window production is set to triple to around 18,000 units this year.
The social housing window and door specialist has installed three advanced machines from Haffner, including a new machining centre for windows and a state-of-the-art CNC machine for fire doors.
This strategic upgrade will boost production capacity dramatically, with window output increasing from 800 to over 1,000 frames per week and fire door capacity rising by an additional 100 units to around 400 per week.
Shelforce’s Business Manager Howard Trotter explained: “This significant machine investment delivers enhanced precision through automation, driving both efficiency and business growth. With a full order book this year, these new additions will help us continue to deliver products on time for our customers.”
The investment comes at a crucial time for Shelforce, with fire door replacements expected to exceed even their impressive window production figures. The new machinery will ensure the business remains well-positioned to meet the growing demands of local authority and commercial contracts within the social housing sector.
“It’s been great to partner with Haffner on this project and the machinery really is top-tier,” continued Howard. “We pride ourselves on being a real asset as a supplier, with our product quality and service for local authorities being second to none. It’s important for us to be able to fulfil orders as quickly as possible, and this significant machine investment will help us to continue to do that.”
The new Haffner equipment represents the latest chapter in the King’s Award for Enterprise winner’s growth, and Howard added: “The benefits of machine automation cannot be overstated, and this strategic investment will boost our production capacity and capabilities throughout our operations.”
As a specialist manufacturer and supplier of uPVC windows, doors and fire doors to local authorities for social housing and housing association building projects, from high rises to new builds, Shelforce continues to demonstrate its commitment to being at the forefront of the industry.
